This is not a bad reflection on the cable as i am guessing that the problem is with the jack on my stereo or laptop

Well it would its a wire with a prong at each end not exactly bleeding edge engineering

I purchased my belkin cable from pure products it arrived dirty with a cut in the cables outer plastic near one of the plugs i contacted pure products eventually jay customer services manager gave me a partial refund 6 months extended warranty i stupidly accepted this less than 5 months later the cable stopped working through the right speaker i emailed pure products was told dear customer my best advice would be to contact belkin’s technical support team
