Pros

The blade is razor sharp, has a great shape, and boasts a really nice finish. It's easily sharpened, yet holds a blade incredibly well. It can be used as anything from a box cutter to an axe.

The handle, although it is plastic, feels great in your hand. It is very comfortable and ergonomic. It fits well in a hip pocket, with no rough edges to catch on fabric.

This knife oozes quality in its every aspect. There is zero about this knife's build quality that sticks out as being nothing short of phenomenal. The craftsmanship of this knife is above and beyond what i expected for $150 knife.

Cons

The axis lock works fine but i've sent it back twice for the assisted opening function to be replaced because it kept crapping out. Not crisp but more like wonky,but. The assist opening is sluggish and labored.

Buying a benchmade is like shopping for a used car. Far more risky than just buying an inexpensive mass production knife. If you feel the action on deployment it feels like it's a weaker spring struggling to deploy a heavy blade.

Packaging/appearance

I cleaned the mud out of the action, and the knife functioned flawlessly.

The blade is crazy sharp right out of the box.

Competitiveness

For several years i carried a crkt knife of kit carson design that i acquired for a very good price.

It's a nice blade, it is off course a benchmade which makes top of the line knives.

I only carry benchmade folders because of the axis locks.

Sharpening rocks, sucksi bought my 580 barrage when they first came out.
