Pros

The cpm 20cv steel is magnificent and not too hard to sharpen either. The blade is sharp and attractive. Out of the box razor sharp!

This knife oozes quality through and through. I own several knives from sog and kershaw, this is my first non-balisong benchmade knife.

The griptilian is my favorite folder as of yet. It's not tiny but not large, great size multi purpose blade. I'm not worried about this knife slipping even during heavy use.

It seems durable, it is very light, and the grip is very positive. Not too heavy but not cheap feeling. Amp; seem to be getting back on the quality track with the griptillian.

The quality is definitely there and i have zero issues. Typical benchmade high quality. Expensive, but should with proper care be passed on to many generations.

Cons

Any knife i have to oil and polish that has a terrible handle isn't worth a penny. Terrible handle, it's very uncomfortable.

Overall, i am very impressed with the performance and quality.

The quality is definitely there and i have zero issues, it's what you would expect for something you're spending good money on.

Quality knife you get what you pay for and benchmade stands behind there knifes

After receiving the 551-1 and using it for several weeks, i'm glad that i went with the 551-1.

Price

Benchmade is the best and this one is my favorite!

Packaging/appearance

The paint also chipped off the clip from just rubbing on soft day to day things, like wood benches and walls.

Competitiveness

Made me a benchmade fan for life.

My fourth benchmade purchase this year, the fit and finish is great.

If you want the best - buy a benchmade.

I already own a emerson karambit for edc.

The only problem is the really poor axis lock

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

I like benchmade and im a fan of the axis but its not executed well here especially for the price of this knife

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Its crunchy and sticky and often doesnt like to unlock

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

As another review mentioned if you flip the blade open with any force the axis really locks up

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

But its particularly frustrating because i have an 930 kulgera and it has a buttery smooth blade swing and axis lock so i know benchmade can do this stuff properly

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Its just a shame that after all of these years they still cant always get it right
