After removing the spring and lubing the parts with teflon grease, i like it much better. Now it's faster than a switch blade.
This knife is robust for it's shorter length and the m390 steel performs beautifully. The mini barrage is also a beautiful knife and feels great in your hand.
Highlights
Quality
Well made, smooth action on blade release.
This is a very well made knife.
The harder blade makes the edge almost undullable, so unless you use this like a workhorse it will never need sharpening.
Everything was made to very strict tolerances.
Price
It's true, you really do get what you pay for.
A bit expensive but it's of good product.
The benchmade is over 3 times the price but worth it.
Competitiveness
Also, i know there are a lot spydeco enthusiasts, but benchmade knives are better than spydeco knives for opening and closing.
Lots of other manufacturers get it right at this price point, and i expected nothing less from benchmade.

Spent a fair amount of time between this and the standard steel blade and have been a bit disappointed at the blade performance

The openingassist is great though not stealthy so if discretion is your game take some time to play with opening it slowly to avoid the thnik metallic sound youll get with a full quick open

The edges on the knife body itself are machined well but a bit to sharp for my tastes

The lock along the back spine works well but does have enough play that the tip of the blade can become exposed and poke you though ive never had an issue with this

Back to the blade itself this powdered steel came very sharp out of the box but seems to have been rushed out of the factory as running a finger along the tip outward revealed a good bit of bur left on the blade edge

That being said it has not remained as sharp as ive read about from other owners and despite taking a strop with steelgreen rouge to it its less lethal through a sheet of paper by a good bit more than i was expecting this many months on

Ive heard benchmade is great about taking in purchases for resharpening at my own expense from what ive heard and as this steel is rather difficult to hone well i am looking forward to sending it away for this purpose
