    I bought this item to cover up a crack in my ipad and it did just that

    The case does work for the ipad air 1st gen with one caveat you cannot use the mute switch on the side of the tablet nor can you press the volume down button because it does not line up correctly since this is designed for the ipad air 2 and newer ipads mentioned

    The only thing that happened is my screen protector got a hair line crack in it because it fell on its face once off the couch onto the tile floor

    I just checked all the buttons and camera holes to make sure nothing was blocked or inoperable

    It doesnt come with a ipad screen which is fine with me since i have a matte screen shield
