These masks stick out away from the mouth so that when you breathe the air is felt all around the nose and mouth area there isnt the same obstacle to breathing as there is with the normal flat face masks

It is a disposable item and not meant to be reworn but a pack of 20 sealed in two sets of ten should see you through most diy jobs
