Pros & Cons

Pros

Bass is very much there in * if the music itself has it, but does not artificially add to it. No sibilance on the vocals and no harshness in the upper end.

The design and construction making it's tonal and sound staging qualities shine are counter to noise cancelling. It's not so much that outside sound gets in, it’s that it feels like the sound in the headphones breathe and is able to escape.

Ohm version, driven through massdrop o2+sdac. More soundstage than hd 600-series and better imaging. If you own the emotiva u need to marry the beyerdynamic dt 880 600 ohms to it.

The earpads are comfortable though and won't dampen your ear like close-eared or leather-padded headphones. They are lightweight and a comfortable fit.

Dt880 is best for classical, jazz, vocal and live music. Perfect for violin and piano, especially symphonies and concertos. Very relieving feeling that allows me to concentrate on my piano playing.

Cons

The sound signature is soulless and empty using numerous sources including reel to reel and other direct to source signals. The treble in this is exaggerated, the soundstage isn't that great.

These german made phones are disappointing due to the over emphasis on the higher end of the frequency curve. The sound is sterile lack the dynamics of phones at a much lower cost. The bass response was awful while the highs were over pronounced.
