Pros
Each chapter goes in-depth on explaining the specific topic and closes with a summary of the information as key takeaways. It is clear and concise, with good guidance on tradeoffs between different approaches. Definitely like the sections on oo.
While his work and online profile is prolific, it is a genuine pleasure to have a nice printed copy of the book on your desk. He reminds me of the great chess teacher bruce pandolfini. This book is just what i didn't know i wanted.
No starch press reliably puts out great books. It's so easy to understand that it's almost unfair. True to book format, code lines were referenced to be explained in details.
Al takes on challenging (and sometimes contentious) topics. Supplementing the tools are stories and anecdotes. There is a genuine feeling of care from al, which can be especially reassuring.

Apparently before it was packaged some stick substance was spilled on the cover.

It covers python idiosyncrasies and some of the philosophies that make python, well python.
It also contains a lot of tips specific to writing better / more pythonic code, which i was pleased to find.

On the venn diagram for coding instructors the circle for 34coding skills34 doesnt have a lot of overlap with the one for 34people skills34 and as a result coding tutorials are often poorly written become too difficult too quickly or are extremely dry

Git is especially confusing and intimidating to beginners all that big o stuff including how to calculate it easier than youd think dunder methods and more
