Intel provides drivers for linux. Works without issue with esxi 7 u2. Latest driver is dated jan/2022 so it's reasonably recent. Based on the old intel 82575 chip.
Overall a great little device. Reasonable price @39. I am quite happy with it and recommend it for sure!
This is a fairly decent dual port gige gbps nic (copper) utilizing intel 82575/82576 chipset and pcie 2. Installation and setup is similar to most other nics.
Highlights
Quality
Very well made with red heatsink on controller.
Performs well, can sustain 2 bi-directional 1gbps connections without overheating for at least a few minutes (total 4gbps traffic).
It's rated at 2 gbps total (250 mb/s) so at a minimum you'd need an electrically pcie 1.
0 is about 20 years old, chances are the motherboard you have would have pcie 3.
Price
Good price also and i have no complaints.
99 is a good price for dual port gig ethernet nic card.
≡ valueall things considered, this is a fairly decent 2.
Packaging/appearance
Brand new, arrived in a sealed box in good condition.
Competitiveness
Intel gigabit nics are the most common in a data center.
I used this nic to replace my onboard realtek 8111 based network controller.
The interfaces come up as intel 82575eb gigabit network connections which is also supported by pfsense.
It has an intel chip which is nice, drivers tend to be better than realtek imo.
