Pros
This antenna is well designed. It looks and performs well. Makes the radios look really compact! They work as good or better than the diamond or comment versions.
It works perfect for my hotspot and is very flexible. Reception is really good and i get into the local repeaters solidly. Transmit efficiency is best in the middle of 430 to 440 band on uhf.
Cons
The performance in reception is the same as a paperclip. The coil metal used is much thicker and sturdier on the nagoya.

My primary use is for my icom ic r-30 receiver to replace the telescoping antenna that comes with the unit.
I have to say i am pleasantly surprised.
Repeated (no pun intended) the same test a few days later with the oem antenna attached.
Transmit efficiency is best in the middle of 430 to 440 band on uhf, but the lowest swr is about 130 mhz in vhf.
Price
Didn’t need two, but price was right.

Works good in the factory i work in picks up better then the stock antenna on fm but the soft rubber keeps sliding off even on the first day of use

Yes there is a sacrifice that has to be made when you use a shorter antenna and i knew it before i made this purchase

Signal back wasnt quite full quieting

There was some considerable noise in the signal and keep in mind i was driving but i was able to reach that repeater with relative ease
