Black sun by rebecca roanhorse is a fantasy tale set in a world heavily influenced by pre-columbian cultures. An excellent series debut and i highly recommend. The only thing i'm disappointed about is the sequel isn't available yet.

Its a political fantasy loosely based on pre columbian aztec/indigenous culture. Teek is like what we know as mermaids? She sounds half crazed with her actions and we learn that she is convinced that serapio is to become a god.

While his chapters weren’t bad, the audiobook narration for him was awful, which is a bummer. The story seems like it will be very good - but i can't get past how hard it is to read it.

They pronounce xe as shay and xir as sheer, so that did throw me off a little. Hard to slog through due to multiple undeveloped characters.
