You can purchase a separate timer to go at the outlet for the pump but the salt water system has to have a constant power source because the power must be pressed when the unit is first powered up

The pump to filter hose came off in a couple of days and i lost a few thousand gallons of water

My only complaint is that the plug is a three prong standard plug not the three prong locking plug twist and lock that was on the previous pump
