The last one we got was for our 18 x 34 pool as well but it was so tight around the edges that we could barely cover it and it would rip after the first or second year

They are normally made to fit over the lip and then pulled tight with a rope or a cord through the grommets on the cover

We have decking around ours so we have to use a drill and screw a large washer down through each grommet to hold it down

With previous covers there is just so little room for that

The only downside is that if you are like us and have decking around your above ground pool the grommets are spaced pretty far apart since they are normally used with the cord to pull them together
