Pros

This is probably the best small form desktop reciever you will find. The device comes with a remote which is excellent – size, layout, and operation are flawless. Software interface is simplistic but very easy to use.

The fosi amp has a 5. Ohm bt. It can be used to power a subwoofer as well as a pair of speakers. The sub-woofer is located on the amp.

I own some very high end audio equipment (system approx $10,000) and consider myself at least an amateur audiophile. This thing is so much more powerful and better sounding than that weak smsl brand.

Cons

The fosi da2120c can not drive speakers as loud as the s. The output waveforms into a static 8 ohm load is much cleaner.

The fosi unit randomly makes a loud relay click which may or may not be related to the defect. The device is defective and will not turn on via the power button or the remote. It’s unusable for this purpose.

Shipping

Amazon promptly sent a replace and the replacement has performed flawlessly!

They were fast to respond but failed to deliver.

They eventually told me they were shipping me a replacement which i received within 8 days.

Packaging/appearance

Package includes the da-2020c unit, low voltage power cord, a 2-ft optical cable and the remote control.

I opened the box to find a used unit that was half hazard thrown into a spare fosi box they had laying around.

Since the box was not for this specific dac it bounced all around inside the box during shipping.

I honestly did not expect so much sound from this little box.

Competitiveness

It is nearly as good as my $1000 emotiva amp.

The bt20a uses an amplifier chip that is rated at 50w per channel, not 100w as fosi claims.

The left and right "spatial" separation is better than my more expensive indoor hifi system.

I previously tried fosi's highly regarded, smaller, bt20a amp.
