All i did was hold down the multifunctional button which is the smallest one at the bottom and wait for it to flash blue and red

The soft plastic is fine but it takes some maneuvering to get the harder plastic around the back of my ear

All of the other headsets ive owned like this one that are just a one ear headset will only make phone calls
