Once i removed most of the old residue the new gasket still wouldn't go in at the top without hammering it in with a cloth covered hammer, it still isn't flush but it's still better than the old cracked/flaking gasketproduct is as good as it gets definately invest some time slowly removing old gasket (don't just rip it out) and make sure to clean out whatever remaining resdue is left before attempting insall of the windshield gasket  Read Less
