Pros & Cons
Pros
This is more useful than i anticipated initially. I find it handy to develop my timing. This metronome is a breeze to use.
This is the only metronome i know of with midi control. It has two tones, such that you can keep track of measures as well as the beat. It also has a rhythm coaching feature, but i haven't used them so far as i'm not mainly a drummer.
Great metronome with tons of functionality. My only complaint is the interface makes it kind of hard to access all the features, despite having a ton of * and sliders. I find it to be an excellent choice for those who want the advanced features.
Cons
The controls are not intuitive, and the manual is worthless. The sound 'beep' is horrible. Secondly, the sound when using it with headphones--or using it at all, for that matter--is nearly unbearable.
Two of these reset to 120 bpm no matter what i do to troubleshoot the problem. It constantly resets itself to 120 and sometimes does not work at all. No troubleshooting help on the roland/boss website.
I like its features and functioning - except the stand that holds it upright falls off. I hate using ours at marching band rehearsals because i’m afraid if i drop it even once it’ll break. Other thing that is horrible is no way to stand it up.
Beat metronome is a dismal failure. They work great for a short time but then start to short out and become a paperweight. Stay away from the db30.

Price
It's overpriced, even for what it is.
This one cost a bit more than i would have likes to pay less but worth having the reliability!
This would be an inexpensive addition to the product and absolutely appropriate at the price point or even at a lower price poi... Read More
Shipping
Love the company as well, they shipped it all the way from japan and even included a japanese coin on the package.
Competitiveness
I've tries other less expensive metronomes and returned them.
A better alternative may be the tama rw200 which is more intutive, easier to use, but lacks some features of the db-90.
I have tried different metronomes before, but none of them as convenient as this one.

The volume is adequate for solo players i measured 74 db for the loudest tone but it could get drowned out with piano or group playing

The current model has no stand but instead a slot in which to insert a coin in hopes that it will stay vertical which is not a great solution
