Those are supposed to be buttons that activate the release mechanism to remove that detachable piece.

The teeth on my original shaver head stopped working because years of packed hair clogged the mechanism.

And at the lower price, i am not complaining.

Although i only needed the foil, not the whole shaver head, the price for this item was really good!
