Pros
The beard guide is super easy to use by dialing a wheel. The tool is easy to clean and keep hygienic. They feel better in your hands, cut cleaner, operate quieter, etc.
It charges quickly and it is relatively easy to turn on and off (despite other reviews to the contrary). It's very sharp and holds a charge. My model 5542 continues to work to this day.
It's pretty compact and has a nice smooth cut to it when it trims. The comb or guard seems to be pretty sturdy for a change.
Cons
Even worse than the 1980s norelco's that for stuck in your beard stubble. The trimming guide is awful. The blade guard never snaps in place, and when it does it immediately comes lose. The trimmer guide slips very easily.
This is my first ever amazon review, which should be a testament to how much i stress not to buy this trimmer. It misses hair all over the face and head. It isn't worth returning.

Use to love norelco but they don't last long enough started using braun in the late 90s been great every time including this one so far
Great trimmer but i can't give a 5-star because the battery life is short - maybe 15 minutes of trim time between charges.

Overall, this has been a great trimmer for the money.

I shopped around for a while for a relatively inexpensive trimmer.
For the price it was just what i was looking for adjustable heads different adoptions easy overall i'm happy as heck with it
Competitiveness
There are so many different makers and varieties these days of these personal groomer/shavers.
This braun falls into that category and i can heartily recommend purchasing it over other manufacturers.
Holds a charge for a long time compared to my last one, which was a different brand.
I didn't need all of the different attachments that many others offer, so i chose this one by braun.
