Pros & Cons
Pros
The braun is the closest shave that i've experienced (even closer than a standard razor blade) and it doesn't give me razor burn. Shaves cleanly. Only visual blemish is one connection on the grill broke, but i never notice it while shaving.
One of the very nice things about the series 1 is that you can use it while it's plugged in. It performs better than electric shavers costing many times more. Vibrating-blade shavers charge quickly and hold charge a long time.
Replaced foil and cutter blade multiple times and the shaver preformed like brand new. The single foil does the trick well.
The philips norelco pt730 shaver fits into my hand very well. The braun works best when the whiskers are short (best if the growth is no older than two days) the norelco is better on the longer whiskers. Even though the braun is more ergonomic, i find... Read More
Cons
Running it under water doesn't really clean the blades--neither does brushing. The problem is the motor's lack of torque. Main complaints are the vibration in my hand and its irritating, semi-grinding noise.
It takes an exceptionally long time and lots of attention to get passable results. Another the shaver must be kept meticulously clean to get even mediocre results. I agree with other reviewers who have panned this inferior product.
Highlights
Quality
Works fine, close shave a little more power but i am ok with the razor.
I have always had good luck with the braun brand and although this is a lower end, model it serves the purpose.
Battery life much shorter than expected for an otherwise excellent product
No case came with the #190s-1, and it will not fit into the old case for the #2501.
Price
Unfortunately they are getting hard to find and the price has doubled since i bought my last almost 10 years ago.
Competitiveness
My 5-star rating right now will hopefully stay a 5-star through the next several years.
I also have the braun series 5 and must say i like this shaver better than the series 5 is more comfortable in the hand and les... Read More

It also does not have the capacity to hold a lot of whiskers compared to more expensive models and the foil cover and blade oare good but not great

Bottom line if i were only an electric shaver user i would upgrade to a more expensive model

I would have bought a new one in 2020 but decided to go with a braun series 3 in hopes that it would shave faster

I wouldnt be surprised to learn that replacing it every 912 months is typical for daily shavers
