Pros

The 8 seems like the sweet spot in the braun lineup to me. The replacement cutter is on a par pricewise with the norelco.

The beard trimmer works well around the nose and mouth but it is somewhat awkward to use. It shaves much closer and is considerably quieter. Shaving great with a much higher oscillation rate.

Cleaning the shaver daily is an overkill. I shave twice a week and this thing last me months. No burned, scraped, skin.

Cons

The on/off button no longer functions properly. There are times where i turn it on to shave, and it will turn off by itself periodically. It is frustrating and a real bummer using this shaver.

2-3 passes over 2 days of stubble takes it right off to the skin.

Price

And at the costco price, it's the real deal.

I think we all buy what we can afford, and upgrade if/when we can.

However, i found it at costco at $70.

So instead i picked this shaver up on sale for $109 and i must say it is a great shaver.

Competitiveness

The quality of the shave to me is the better than my old "7 series".

I've just switched from a different brand shaver that had a very wide shaving head, and i have a lot more control with the braun shaver.

Several brands later i took the plunge, and purchased a braun product.

I've been using norelco triple head shavers for a long time,, and thought that a norelco share was close.
