Pros & Cons
Pros
This is a fabulous christmas present for the special chap in your life. It works well and efficiently but if used as suggested by braun – it's expensive to run (probably in the region of £60 per year) it works, but you're paying about an extra 50gbp f... Read More
Construction is solid, hefty in the hand and luxuriously styled. It's wet and dry (although i've only ever used it dry) but the satin silver looks really nice!
Braun series 5 has a double ”u” configuration with a more advanced cutter. The foils are very comfortable and there is little irritation, giving a comfortable shave. Skin is much less sensitive than with my previous rotary machine.
The shave is smooth. Looks classy and robust and gives a clean shave fast. It is very easy and it had caused no irritation and always shaves quite closely and you can zip around your face in no time at all.
Braun shaver comes with a cleaning/charging station. Cleaning/lubricating function uses a cartridge full of alcohol and an oily detergent. The charger/cleaner works great and leaves the shaver smelling nice.
Cons
It's scary to find that your shaver starts whirring randomly (imagine in a flight) and keeps going to travel lock mode when you want to shave. It takes about 10 strokes just to cut the hair and even when the hair is cut it's not close. Do not buy this... Read More

When it was time to renew the speed xl ive done my extensive research and repeatedly saw the braun 9series come out on top and continued to read up on the reviews that were undoubtedly written by people who are paid to promote this brand

Although the endeffect feels the same in terms of length of cut the skin is much less sensitive than with my previous rotary machine which appeared to just take an extra skin layer

This may just be pure perception but my skin is much less red and sensitive after shaving

The only thing that puzzled me still is that the feature that this shaver advertises as one of its main benefits is actually a weakness this machine is supposed to deal well with thick grey hairs yes im getting more and more

Only a few strokes up and down completely eliminate most stubbles already however the grey thick hairs all remain and then require some further attention and different directions
