Pros & Cons
Pros
The auto-froth steam arm gets the milk to the perfect texture for it! As a plus, it has an automatic milk steamer that works just as easily and beautifully. You can also do it manually if you wish!
My source for coffee is a local roaster. Still love my coffee shop and the barista. The pressurized baskets allow some leeway and allow me to even use store ground coffee.
This bambino unit is actually worth the hype. It's attractive, fairly compact, and quite fairly priced. If you do have a good grinder that you can lock in for a great shot it is a $15 upgrade.
The grinders seem to outlast the machines, so get separate. Replacement process was painless.
It is so well made that it took only a handful of shots to get it dialed in. The machine manages to make simple something that can be something of an art, and delivers shots that are pretty much cafe quality.
Cons
It works but only if you do 3 things perfectly first. It isn't easy to use, is highly temperamental and definitely not worth the money. It does a poor job with auto-frothing. They all do very well with larger bubbles (cappuccino) but are very poor wit... Read More
In their infinite wisdom, breville decided to eliminate the ability to bypass cleaning. The wand cleaning cycle is really messy.
Highlights
Quality
This is one of the best purchases i have made.
🥰the lighter weight of it makes it necessary to brace the machine with one hand while removing the porta filtre with the other.
The machine purges the frother after each use, and the drip tray gets filled with diluted milk.
Unfortunately, at least in the case of my machine, after you clean and after you descale and even after you reset it to factory... Read More
Price
Mine was $12 and it works so much better than the original.
While pricey, it produces excellent results with both the shot extraction and the milk texturing.
It's more than paid for itself by now.
And it was more than worth it.
Shipping
Breville was willing but slow in responses to on-line help queries.
Competitiveness
I have two other breville espresso machines, the express and the barista pro, which have both been very good.
The bambino plus wand provides steam equal to much more expensive machines and does it virtually instantly.
I think there is room for aftermarket vendors to make a better drip tray.
The last 15 years or so i have used the varying upgrades of the gaggia classic pro which is in the same price range but is much... Read More
