Quality overall is great especially the beeping noises when boiling is done. The selectors on the base are easy to use. Highly recommend this appliance.

For oolong and other asain black teas, go a little higher-at least 190, but never boiling. An absolute necessity for brewing different types of tea and different methods of coffee brewing.

As with everything, it pays to read and follow all the advice in the directions! Maybe that's why you don't like it. Otherwise it's terrific.

Using the kettle in a small residence while a partner or roomate is still in bed is impossible due to the repeated beeping. It beeps randomly and won't boil water. There is a fair amount of plastic that is exposed to boiling water and steam.

However the bke720bss has some flaws which render it unusable for me. Looks nice but it’s complete junk. Nobody cares about the leather electric seats in a car with a junk engine.
