Pros
It’s much heavier and feels and looks solid. Cool-to-the-touch cast aluminum exterior. Electrical cord and plug are heavy duty, not at all fragile.
It toasts beautifully instead of drying out the bread so bad, then toasting. Some times when you want to refresh your bread through the application of heat, you wonder if a sentient toaster was prob not the best idea.
The finish on the toaster is flawless and appears well built. We have a cheap $40 toaster with a whopping 1350 watts & it takes less than half the time to do what this upscale toaster takes. Love love love this toaster.

"i am so disappointed that it doesn’t work well.
It burns on one side and barely toasts on the other. It toasts nice but the crumb tray is useless.
Worst purchase in a long time. It is also way over-priced and impossible to keep clean. Price seems fair for aesthetic, but doesn't reflect any greater functional ability.

It works very well, it’s compact and i think 17 years of regular daily use is a good test of this toasters quality.
It is well made and works perfectly.
Was reliable for five years until the lift bar twisted itself and broke for no apparent reason.
My last toaster with handle lasted about a year in a half, the handle got stuck and would not work.
Price
All-in-all despite the higher price this has been a very satisfying and fun purchase.
I know these things could happen, but i got this anyway because the joy of using this is worth the cost.
I tried buying something else as a replacement because this was so expensive.
I've been buying $40 toasters all my life and i didn't realize a toaster could feel so premium.
Competitiveness
This is our second breville appliance and we will be buying more breville in the future.
And i've tried a number of others with brand names everyone knows.
I bought the breville because of the push button function.
We had the same model toaster as this we bought in 2007.

I looked at a lot of toasters and they all had bad reviews about burning bread or shooting the bread into the ceiling when done
