Pros & Cons
Pros
The breville bwm520xl is an easy to use, clean and elegant appliance. It's sturdy, well-built and easy to clean. It is truly nonstick with no butter or oil required.
This waffle maker has a catch basin around the entire edge that is heated. The moat does its job well of catching the overflow, but if you adhere to about 1/3 cup per waffle, not an issue. The overflow is also nice for when you put too much batter it ... Read More
The build quality of this waffle maker meets my expectations in every way except for one minor defect on our unit. It's a bit pricey, but i believe you are paying for quality. This is the best waffles maker since my mother’s that i had to throw out af... Read More
Breville is kind of like the ferrari of kitchen appliances. They are stylish and perform well. This is my third breville appliance.
Cons
The advertising for this model shows an intriguing design, but the results are very disappointing. The iron design on the breville simply produces (if you can get it out without breaking it up) is simply not well engineered.
Even when at the max setting, the waffles are soft and mushy. The pictures show the top side with the poorest element quality with the underside also poorly cooked. No matter the setting, they were not evenly cooked.
Highlights
Quality
The temperature dial works awesome and the lock in place top is helpful.
Just like our breville blender the construction is very solid!
It broke after a waffle was expanding in the maker.
It beeps when it is preheated to the setting you select, and it beeps again when waffle is cooked.
Price
Definitely worth the price having perfect waffles each time.
At $149 it is $20 more than i paid
The value for the cost is not bad.
Yes it is a little expensive but worth it.
Competitiveness

Breville is the best brand for small electronics in my opinion.
The stainless steel is noticeably heavier than other brands.
There are so many belgian makers it was hard to find a traditional american waffle maker.
