From my point of view regardless of filling just take your time when clamping together pushing down from the sides of the toaster not hot and when ready clamp in place dont force it in one go

Works great used nearly every day perhaps would have benefited from a timer built into the lid i have to keep opening the lid to check just how brownburnt my sandwich is

For some reason over then and now the public or the manufacturer must favour less filling in their toasties

On opening the box item looked ok but on close in inspection found some marks on it item

I have had several toasters over the years only for them to be relegated to the back of the cupboard for various reasons
