Pros
This allows you to attach the housing to the framing in whatever manner you choose. Easy to install. Fits either application very nicely.
It's significantly louder than i expected, even with a straight insulated vent run to the roof cap. The fan itself is not as quiet as expected for the sone level, but it is so much quieter than the old one.
Bought 1 right after the other for my bathrooms. Picked spot along joist over toilet. Have other larger panasonics in larger bathrooms upstairs. Flap should be a touch heavier to close when fan notrunning.
Cons
The ezduct connection is questionable, as one will still have to cut open drywall to properly attach to existing ductwork. Pattern on the grate is not as advertised. The description says it is a 1 sone equivalent to a refrigerator noise.

Overall i am very satisfied and recommend the product.
In the end i am satisfied with the product.
The unit i removed was 4 1/2 deep and this unit is about 6 inches deep causing interference with the roof rafters!
0 sones fan with the broken grill was terribly annoying for years.
Price
The excellent price was worth the little bit of noise reduction.
It's not loud, but not as quiet as other fans in the house that have higher sone ratings.
Competitiveness
I have always been happy with broan products.
The people who built my house in the 70's did a craptastic job of installing my prior exhaust fan, so retrofitting was.
I switched this motor for another broan that was rated at 1 sones.

If youre the type to turn it on and go in with a book for ages then maybe not for you for the rest of the world its great cant hear it over running water and from the next room can barely tell its on after showering
