    The update repeatedly failed when attempts were made through the wifi network with the printer mistakenly indicating that the wifi network had problems it didnt since we could print easily through the wifi network from the macbook without the need for any software installation

    We could also access the administrative menu through the ip address using a standard browser and the admin password initpass

    Finally we downloaded the new firmware from brother installed a new version of java and then installed the firmware through wifi though the instructions incorrectly said we had to use a usb cable
