Pros & Cons
Pros
If you're on the fence about whether to go with a thermal printer don't hesitate with this one. It works perfectly for anyone with consistent shipping needs. For everyone that sells items whether it be amazon, ebay, etsy or wherever, this is what you n... Read More
The brother printer joins the network within seconds. It's as easy as sending a correct print file to it from ios and mac os. Go to printer/page setup and select page setup and then select your format and width.
Easy to setup. I also like that label rolls are in one unit and not outside like rollover.
The printer is able to recognize what kind of label is currently in the machine, and communicates that information back to the software. The only shortcoming (and it is not the printer) is p-touch editor, the software that drives this printer. Brother... Read More
Cons
Brother support is virtually worthless. Contacting support is a bit of a joke. I'm very tech savvy and truthfully it was a nightmare to set up.
The only reliable way to connect to the printer is to use a usb cable, completely defeating the whole point of buying a wireless printer in the first place. Bluetooth is not compatible with os 15 either. System compatibility is to blame, but a mac is ... Read More
Highlights
Quality
Very easy to set up and works smoothly with my macbook and my iphone and my ipad
Easy set up and so far no issues, like jams or printing issues such as streaks or missing areas.
Constant software problems, never any update fixing it, even days of not being able to use them at all.
If it ever broke, which something tells me it won't anytime soon, seems very sturdy, i'd buy another one without hesistation
Price
Do not hesitate in buying this because of the price it is worth every penny.
I remember being a little bit unsure of purchasing this item because of the price, but i'm so glad that i did.
The first one i bought was an inexpensive bluetooth one (not brother) that i couldn't get to work at all.
It is well worth the higher price tag.
Shipping
He absolutely loves it, and says it is a game changer for shipping.
Absolutely worth it for anyone with consistent shipping needs.
For a few years i've been printing shipping labels onto plain paper and taping them onto the boxes i shipped.
You really have to pay close attention on setting up this printer for shipping labels.
Packaging/appearance
The package was not only dented in a corner (obviously from being tossed), but wasn’t even taped shut.
Competitiveness
I finally decided to try again with this substantially more expensive brother label printer and i'm really glad i did.
It's also possible that maybe this printer does accept other brands of labels but the one we used didn't work.
The only reason this did not get 5 stars from me is the fact that you have to use proprietary labels that are more expensive th... Read More
Yeah the brothers paper cost more than the cheaper stuff but i believe in getting what you pay for quality.
