Pros
Top quality compass. Lightweight, full featured, and the brunton name. It feels sturdy and with brunton's guarentee i know i have nothing to worry about. Nice slim and protective case with easy to site bearing using mirror and onboard level.
The easiest thing to do is to take the compass apart to adjust the declination. It works quite well for its intended purpose (hiking, pathfinder) highly recommend for using as a slope meter in avalanche terrain.
Cons
Magnetic declination is too difficult to adjust to be useful. The rest of the design is desirable however it does not read correctly.
Numbers small and somewhat confusing. Also, only about 7. Not luminous. Some bright minds are still confused as to why.
This is inconvenient when placing the compass on top of a map to navigate or plot a bearing. The printing on the bottom of the base plate for the scales is rather low quality. The white surface is actually just a piece of clingy protective plastic tha... Read More

High quality, i don't mind spending more for quality.
My compass came with the 1:24000 mile/feet units on the scales, like many usgs maps found around me.
For its price, it is somewhat plasticky and the quality of the plastic felt cheap.

Overall, this is a great compass made in the usa.

One major complaint regarding the outer ring it is not very tight so it can be easily rotated by accident a few times i thought i was looking at the right direction only realized that the ring setting has been knocked off so i was looking at the wrong direction
