It's doing what i wanted the wax and pomade to do, but i wanted shine and so many waxes are still matte; i've been using this on my very short pixie to piece it, lay it down, and add shine; i haven't tested it on a spike, since i'm keeping my hair shorter right now, but after trying and returning other products or giving them away, i am keeping this for now,; this short, i can often simply use fractionated coconut oil for some control, lay down flyaways or frizz and great shine and moisture; this gel is more of a finisher for me, for polish and shine and texture, and to keep my pixie tight!  Read Less
