In most cases, a bit of quality control during manufacture would have prevented the failure.

So far the cable is working like a champ.
I purchased this cable about 3-years ago and it still works great.
It's takes some ordering of plugging into on the amd radeon hd 7750's.

Was good for a while but after using it for several months the thunderbolt connector started to come loose between the plastic and the metallic connector and eventually the cable stopped working completely

No signs of wear and tear and the length is perfect if you want to hook your mbp up to the hdmi port of your tv

I bought this 15ft cable back in nov 2011 and it only started malfunctioning a couple weeks ago audio is now intermittent but the visual is still fine
