Pros & Cons

Pros

I often purchase from cable matters as they are a reputable company that makes no nonsense, quality cables that meet spec. They're one of my go-to suppliers. Not many brands go through the trouble and cost of getting this.

The cable feels tough and durable. Think of silicone based cables, but with added ruggedness for durability. The only downside is that it is thick, which means it isn’t as flexible.

It's compatible with thunderbolt 4 connections for powering monitors/displays. There's no need to buy other usb c cables that aren't geared to this spec. Right angle usb4 cable.

As a usb cable, it's well-built and beefy enough to handle the rated 240w charging speed. It's stiffer than many charging cables, and hopefully that bodes well for quality and longevity.

Usb-c connector fits well on a laptop, tablet, and phone. Right angle plug on one side helps keep the cable clutter down. Only drawback is that it's not very flexible and has large end connectors.

Quality

Snug fit in the port, quality build.

Very solid built construction, thick wire that will definitely handle the full usb4 transfer speed of 20 gbps.

While this cable is advertised as usb4, it is the slow kind, only supporting 20gbps.

The data transfer also blazes away at incredible speeds.

Price

They're going for $20 now and there's also a 20% off coupon.

The cable is very affordable considering the 6.

3 stars = it provides some value, but perhaps not as advertised.

Competitiveness

However it’s important to note that this is not a thunderbolt cable

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

To meet thunderbolt 34 standards it would need to support 40gbps usb4 gen3x2 or usb4 gen 4

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

It might work for a thunderbolt connection at thunderbolt 2 speeds but don’t expect full thunderbolt capabilities

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Cable matters has clearly marked this cable with usb markings not the thunderbolt lightningbolt marking which is a good indication of its intended use

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

It doesn’t spring back like some highcurrentcapacity usb cables which is a plus

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

However i wouldn’t recommend it for situations where you need the cable to make tight corners

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Fortunately the rightangle connector on one end of this cable should help with that

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Speaking of the rightangle connector it’s only on one end which i find to be a good design choice
