The lid makes it useful for preparing a variety of foods. I do not fault it for getting hot sometimes. Nice, heavy duty, and extra sturdy.

The metal ring surrounding the glass has a designed gap with a lip on the top side of the glass. This allows food/oils to get stuck between, and it is impossible to get out. First use cooked shrimp, there is shrimp juice stuck in the lid now.

Lid is a durable lid but, the lip on my 12 pan is thick. Aside from the sizing, the seals are terrible.

When filling out the company contact form, i read their privacy notice which wanted to use an extraordinary amount of my personal data. Paid $30 for the very first use to be ruined and grow bacteria. Will return and replace.

It's a cheap item, but in this case the cheapness is not worth the lack of practical use. In my experience all calphalon lids are made this way and is a design flaw.
