If you happened to install from the cd and wish to install the downloaded file please make sure to uninstall the cd installed file first than install the downloaded file

Which leads me to the final issue not with the hardware but with trying to register the printer on the canon website

When i log into my canon account i can see the other canon printers that i own but when i tried to add the lbp227dw the site cannot find this model printer in their database
