Pros & Cons
Pros
Ink bottle refill system works so slick it'll make you smile when you refill. No more 18 month expiration of cartridges to worry about. Good ink supply.
Most printers prompt you to complete this step to proceed. Very good setup instructions. This is where the supertank feature shines.
This is a fine printer and so far a seems to be a great one for the money ($199 at time of purchase). Also, about $129 cheaper from canon. As in. More for your money. This printer is 100% worth the money!
It prints fantastic photos on photo paper. I absolutely love that i don't have to purchase cartridges anymore.
No issues to report in daily light personal usage (avg 22 pages / day) it is nice to find a decent quality printer without having to pay for all the other features - scanner, fax.
Cons
The printer is so clogged up with flooded ink that it is beyond repair. When it does print, it only prints a pinkest color. The quality of the printed scan doc is not good.
Set up was a nightmare. The setup disk is worthless; it's obsolete before you even open the box. I click on the downloaded software, but nothing comes up.
This is the worst printer i have had the displeasure of working with. It's a rudimentary design that has all sorts of problems. The tank system is convenient but i can see it being messy if you aren't steady with your hands.
Highlights
Quality
Have no problem with it, prints well and it was very easy to set up have had it for 3 months now and have no issues
I’m very happy to see they are being made available, fingers crossed the out-of-stock status isn’t forever!
I’ve had it less than a month, yellow wasn’t printing, and didn’t show up until after three nozzle cleans.
I have had this printer for over 2 years and have only refilled the black ink 2 times and never replaced the color.
Price
I think this printer is an excellent deal.
This is a quality machine that is inexpensive and uses the big bottles of ink that i also use on my g7020.
Yes you can buy a cheap printer for 40 bucks, but it will cost you so much for ink.
This is worth every penny if you print a lot!
Competitiveness
Works smoothly, great print quality, uses waaaaay less ink than my last unit from another brand.
Compared to other reviews, its setup is straightforward, and the connectivity is excellent.
I see today that canon is now selling compatible print heads but they are currently out of stock.
It's a little bit slow but is not as slow as epson.

Print quality on photo paper is very good but prints on plain printer paper even when printing using photo settings or higher saturation seem to be kind of dull and undersaturated

This may be solvable with further tinkering but for now it is working well to just use photo paper
