I now travel with a general zoom lens for wide and midrange reach and keep this with me in case i need a long reach.
So much negativity out there because of the f11, but seriously, this lens is soo good.
If i am going to photograph birds nearby where the weight is not an issue, i do use my ef 100-400mm l lens.

Price
I did not get the hood since the original is too expensive and my experience with 3rd party hoods was bad.
I’ve been shooting “l” for years, but can’t justify the $$ now.
In a league of its own at the price.

Don’t compare it to an “l” f4 or f2.
Cropping to the same reach would give a better value.
