Yes they do have a petrochemically smell but theyre coated in plastic so you should kinda expect it to smell besides youre probably not lifting at the perfume counter in macys

The titans arrived mangled and some have bubbles in the rubber but the cap plates are perfect all the way around

I gave it 4 stars simply because the build quality isnt the best around the center ring but that is not surprising for what you are paying

Just a note these are not the crossfit type weights that are bendable so i wouldnt recommend dropping the bar from overhead
