The plastic itself feels quite nice theres some soft foamish material where you place your phone the light gray parts which is great to prevent scratches and what not on your device

To mount mount a phone you press a button in the back of the car mount and the sides will extend then you simply press place your phone and push the sides together

The two sides can actually extend quite a bit so pretty much any phone should fit ive tested with my s7 edge and note 2

I also use my galaxy s6 phone with it which is quite a small and slippy phone due to the metal and glass build

Not sure how well it would work in a vertically faced vent where youd expect the holder to hang in free air without touching the dash

Good car mount but not compatible with the nexus 6p since the right arm presses the volume down buttom
