The holder grips the iphone 12 with the flip over case in too. The gripper arms release when the phone is gripped in place.
Ball and socket attachment can be tightened at any desired angle. Hook extends by winding the external textured barrel of the leg. Pad rotates so you can adjust where the toes sit.

The spec for this holder suggests a maximum thickness of phone supported at 21mm

Looking at the images of the item i was prepared to risk the grippers would hold the phone in its case even though this exceeds the maximum depth slightly

The bottom support of the phone cradle is split in two which is ideal for my case where the cable can feed up into the usb socket at the base of the phone
