The solar charging works great. It gets plenty of charge just from me wearing it and whatever ambient light is inside my house. The face is easy to read in full sun or shade and the light can be set for 1 or 3 second duration.

The battery has never run low despite the fact it has sat in my closet in the dark for a few months. Has handled 3 days in the woods without issue. The functions, as far as i can tell, are accurate.

The barometer and compass are its best functions. Compass seems consistent and accurate, which is one of the only functions i actually use regularly.

Cons

The altimeter needs to be re-calibrated every 2 hours as well as the thermometer. For some reason the darn thing keeps resetting the date and time on me.

I used to be a cheap dude - a $15 watch every year kind of guy (because my watches rarely if ever lasted that long).

I've been looking for a budget altimeter watch, i found it.

Shipping

I do not look forward to having to ship it back to casio for warranty repair if that doesn't fix it.

Packaging/appearance

This one comes with a wooden protrek box and it came broken.

I like the watch so far, but i collect casios and the boxes are nice to keep.

Good looking, but very disappointed that it's not atomic timing!

Competitiveness

They both share the same white double led lighting and abc sensor from 2013, as well as tough solar.

Slightly smaller face than it's predecessor which means it's lighter too.
