After taking a look at the packaging, it looks as if cff packages this with a sort of bumper cardboard piece that covers one end of the padding, but there wasn’t a cover in the packaging for the seat pad, which had more damage of the two.  Read Less

I can say that this damage is only aesthetics and will not affect the performance of the bench, however cff may want to look into packaging the bench with cardboard bumpers at both ends of the bench, at the very least.  Read Less
