You have to cut the garlic in half or thirds before you put it into the compartment otherwise youll have a heck of a time trying to push the giant springtop down and then twisting it to lock

Yes it can be hard to closeespecially if you try to overfill it

You can only insert one clove on each side of the chamber its divided in half and if the cloves are large you have to compress the top down pretty hard to get the device to close

I must say after reading the reviews i was a little skeptical about purchasing it but figured why not whats the worst that would happen i return it

Funny thing is i was just in macys and saw martha stewart just put her name on it to sell excuslively for them double the price go figure
