This like other induction cookers must have enough metal on it to make it work

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

This particular model does draw over 1700 watts at 15 amps so the power rating is true but one of these began automatically stepping down the power after 35 minutes of water boiling from 1700 down to 1400 watts while others began buzzing really loudly

It is a good unit for light cooking but if you have a pot of water you need boiled you might get a unit that will begin stepping down the power output early on

Updatefinally figured out what was causing the loud buzzing and step downsshutoffs during operation

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

When a single unit is used on a single circuit break line at max power and another appliance turns on during operation on the same line one of the two things happen popped circuit breaker or a step downshutdown of the unit wich is a good safety precaution
