Lock Mechanism
Customers generally praise the lock mechanism of the Chive 1600 for being solid, reliable and easy to use with features such as a sliding latch, frame lock, safety lock, and assisted opening. However, some customers have reported issues with the knife getting stuck half way open or the assisted opening wearing out over time.
Highlights
Quality
I still am delighted with this quality quick release knife.
The assisted open is a really nice feature, it opens very easy and feels sturdy.
It is impossible to accidentally open and there is no pressure on the knife when it is closed.
The 420hc steel blade keeps a sharp edge even with constant use.
Price
Great value for what you’re paying for.
Very nice for the price great workmanship
It averages about $50 no matter where we buy them (he loses them).
On top of all that, it is reasonably priced.
Shipping
Came the next day so delivery was great.
Update:i contacted the company and they were friendly and quick.
Packaging/appearance
Whether opening packages or tackling small diy projects, the satisfying one-handed operation has made my life much easier.
Unlocking the opened chive is awkward, the ‘catch’ is too low to easily ‘hook’ with my thumb.
Competitiveness
I also have its brother, the leek, which is similar but larger.
If you are looking for a knife that can deploy rapidly then you should look to other kershaw solutions.
