Pros & Cons
Pros
Action of my cogent is buttery smooth. The button lock is a tiny bit stiff. It’s still very usable. The action is very good, opens smoothly and closes tight.
The blade is razor sharp out of the box. Sharpened on kme 15 per side and it slices through most my tasks like butter. Great slicing profile.
The damascus is very grippy even wet and oily, yet it’s also as hard and almost as tough as g10. The damascus pattern is a little in your face, but that's the price of wanting the awesome micarta grips. I only wish it was a little more durable.
The civivi cogent is a lot of bang for the buck. It is a screaming bargain, and i would highly recommend it. Looks like it’s back to my reliable buck knife.
The action is amazing, aside from the button. But still kinda pricy.
Cons
You have to flick the lever to get to the lock position. The clip is garbage- keeps getting bent out of place, too wide to grab the top of my pants pocket. Replacements both also have locking defects. The grip is nice, but overall not a great knife.
Highlights
Quality
The button lock is smooth as butter and the overall quality is amazing.
It is also my first civivi knife, and the quality seems pretty good.
Also it could be a bit lighter, it's still somewhat weighty even with the milling in the liners.
I got the jade version with the black blade.
Price
Its action is very smooth and well worth the price.
Shipping
Not as fast opening as the kershaw leek, but fast enough.
Packaging/appearance
Smooth open/close, fits great in my hands, and the packaging was pretty sleek too.
The edge is, as usual for civivi, shaving sharp out of the box.
Arm hair shaving sharp right out of the box.
Competitiveness
In tests it performs almost as good as generic sv30, mixed with in house vg10 which is also done phenomenal.
