Pros & Cons
Pros
Acceptable craftsmanship, great price. Well crafted.
Use nail gun and glue. Will need to coat frames with wax. Nothing was damaged.
Hives are cedar and fit together as they should. As with any assembly of this many pieces, some pieces fit more snugly, some more loosely.
Cons
Metal on the top of the bee hive came dented out. Take your time and pick quality hives that are waxed and waxed foundations.
Highlights
Quality
Tight finger joints, sharp clean cuts, clear wood.
Good quality wood used, joints fit together very well.
Used these same hive boxes this past year , and you will have to heavily wax the foundation or the bees just refuse to build on it.
I have used bee wax added to the foundation- 2 coats with no results.
Price
This is great deal for the money
This is exactly what i wanted at a very good price.
For the price, i think this was a steal.
This is a good value for the money.
Shipping
It arrived quickly and when i pulled it out of the box i was amazed at the craftsmanship.
I hate reviews that say '5 stars, item arrived on time and intact!
' because i don't care how it shipped - i want to know if the item is any good.
I also don't know because my bees arrive next month.
Packaging/appearance
The only thing i would have liked more would have been if an entrance reducer had come with the package.
It was easy to put together and is going to be a great hive box.
Picture instructions show nails in box tenons.
Wood was precisely cut, packaged very well, good price, but foundation frames were not waxed.
Competitiveness
This hive was much better made than a hive i purchased from a prominent bee supply company at a more expensive price.
You will not find a better deal, the wood does split if you don't know what you're doing.

The quality isn’t top notch and you will find cracks holes from knots etc but they are still functional and fixable

I don’t know if i would recommend these to a new beekeeper but if you have had hives for awhile it should be a no brainer for assembly
Posted by a reviewer on Amazon
The hive comes with nails that are too short for the boxes and too big for the frames so they are basically useless which might cause frustration for a new beekeeper that might not have fasteners on hand

I was pleasantly surprised to see that the exterior parts of the hive appear to be cedar which should resist wear better than the standard pine

As long as the price stays low i will probably buy a few more because they are good for the price

When my package arrived the box was damaged and i discovered a package of 10 deep frame side bars were missing
