Pros

The shaft is nice, it has some visible nicks after multiple uses but the structural integrity is still intact. As a hatchet it holds up. Great little axe to add to my camping stash.

Cons

This coghlan's hatchet is okay for the average homeowner. The edge is absolutely horrible; it's too high. There's also a small nail removal notch, but it's pretty much worthless.

But here are more details… the price is crazy low and this small axe has great steel.

All three axes are the same item - only difference between them is the price.

Cost less that one of equal quality cost 50 years ago.

Packaging/appearance

It does not come adequately sharp out of the package.

Competitiveness

The rounded corners where the head meets the shaft are sharp enough and ideally shaped for throwing sparks off of a ferrocerium rod.

Whenever i hit the tree a certian way it would push on my skin and eventually rubbed it raw.

If you were to buy a knife made out of the same steel manufactured in china it would be double the cost.
