Pros

Lightweight, effective, easy to use. Something every solo hiker needs to carry. Has a lanyard attached that has a clip to detach quickly. Works as a coyote deterrent.

The volume it emits is amazing and truly out performs anything i've had in the past. Not as shrill as a whistle but distinctive. Will definitely get some attention after blowing this horn.

Cons

There's a thin rubber film inside that the seal must break. I have a two ft piece of one inch plastic pipe that i can blow like a bugle and it is four or five times louder than this horn. If it's an emergency whistle you're looking for, stick with a m...  Read More

Quality

Small and light weight you can take this along in the dingy to have a good noisemaker/warning horn with you.

Coyotes in packs are confident, this device has helped significantly in keeping them at a distance.

Tested and it’s loud and small /lightweight.

This thing is dangerously loud and due to it’s size, unavoidably close to your ear holes.

Price

This compact, affordable, super lightweight horn should be in every front and backcountry camper’s kit.

I found this on sale for under $3 and honestly thought it wouldn't work but now i have my own mother getting one too.

This horn for the price is great but you have to use a hand to hold the horn to your mouth.

So for something that is affordable, small, lightweight, portable .

Packaging/appearance

It isn’t as loud as i expected, but it is small and lightweight, so it’s easy to pack.

My 5 year old can scare away an army with this thing

Blowing into the little side hole on the side of the cylinder makes a very loud horn noise but it would be even better if there were a way to hold the horn in your mouth without having to use your hands

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

That would free both hands in an emergency and allow you to make loud warning sounds to protect yourself and others

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

I kept it around my neck tucked into my shirt at all times

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

To notei haven’t blown fully but you need to make a plan to tuck one ear into your shoulder while covering your other ear
